An access log includes a record of all files which have been requested by the visitors while exploring your website. The list is comprehensive, so in case you have a web page with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files will be in the log, not just the page. An access log typically includes the date, the Operating System, the browser and the IP address for every file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the most popular files on your website. The log, which is also typically named "raw data", is an addition to the web stats that you usually get with a hosting account, not a replacement. An example why you may need this sort of a log is if you want to use some software on your computer system to prepare a report about the website’s functionality, but you do not want to use the regular graphs and tables that come with the server-generated site stats.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be enabled from the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done individually for every single domain name or subdomain that you have within your account. When you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. A single click shall enable the log generation and another one will disable it, so you can control this function with great comfort. A Download link inside the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, which you can then use on your laptop or computer. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
